CloudFront is a CDN function launched by AWS. It relies on AWS's global infrastructure and has massive node and bandwidth resources. Last year, CloudFront only provided 50GB of free traffic per month. Now AWS has upgraded, with 1TB of free outgoing data. , 10 million HTTP or HTTPS requests, 2 million CloudFront function calls. If it is enough for us small and medium-sized webmasters! In addition, the free traffic limit of EC2 has also been increased from the previous free 15G for one year or to 100G permanently per month. This increase shows that AWS is full of sincerity.

Today we will mainly take a look at CloudFront, which will be referred to as CDN below!

1. CDN billing rules:

CloudFront’s free quota is 1T traffic and 10 million requests per month. The billing items include HTTP requests, HTTPS requests, node-to-origin traffic, and node-outflow to users. My understanding of traffic billing As shown in the picture:

When using CloudFront, you need to pay attention to whether you exceed the free quota. The price after exceeding the limit is very expensive. The bill is issued once a day, and no real-time statistics are provided (the traffic statistics in the control panel are also delayed by several hours), so please do not use it for vulnerable sites, as this can control costs very well. The picture below shows my bill:

2. Start using CDN

1. Of course you need to have an AWS account. If you don’t have one, please refer to my previous articles or videos. To register now, please click: https://aws.amazon.com/cn/free/?sc_channel=seo&sc_campaign=offer0/

2. After logging in to AWS, you can directly search for CloudFront, and then directly click the "Create CloudFront Distribution" button to arrive at the new CDN page:

3. Select the source domain as the original site domain name, and then name the source; the viewer protocol strategy can be selected according to the specific conditions of your website, of course https is recommended;

4. The following settings are recommended: use all edge nodes; turn on IPv6; leave other contents as default. For advanced settings, please refer to https://aws.amazon.com/cn/blogs/china/amazon-cloudfront-article/

5. At the bottom, click "Create Allocation" to complete the creation.

6. You will see the *.cloudfront.net domain name assigned to you on the panel. This is also the CNAME value that you will point to when you add a custom domain name later. Just set the cname of the domain name to this domain name.

3. Some explanations

1. I can tell you quietly that AWS CDN is several times faster than CF, maybe because CF is abused too much;

2. aws cdn supports WebSocket function and can also be used to accelerate, the effect is very good;

3. If your WordPress site only speeds up images, you can use a plug-in~

4. Register for AWS directly → https://aws.amazon.com/cn/free/?sc_channel=seo&sc_campaign=offer0/
