The method of turning on the BBR congestion control algorithm has been introduced in a previous article. It is a set of TCP congestion control algorithms open sourced by Google. For details, please refer to "Enabling BBR Congestion Control Algorithm for VPS with One Click to Accelerate Your VPS Network Speed" 》, today this site will introduce to you how to uninstall the BBR congestion control algorithm, that is, how to turn off BBR in a VPS that has enabled BBR acceleration.

1. Introduction to BBR

BBR is a set of TCP congestion control algorithms open sourced by Google, and has been integrated into the kernel of Linux 4.9 or above. The function of BBR is, in short, to maximize the bandwidth and speed up the VPS network.

For tutorials on what BBR acceleration is, how to turn on BBR on a VPS to accelerate your VPS network speed with one click, and how to check whether BBR is turned on successfully, you can refer to the tutorial I shared with you before: "Enabling BBR Congestion for VPS with One Click Control algorithms to speed up your VPS network.

2. Tutorial on uninstalling BBR

Some friends may want to uninstall the BBR acceleration, and then adopt other acceleration methods. For example, the default system of the Bricklayer VPS comes with BBR acceleration. Some friends want to uninstall the BBR acceleration of the Bricklayer VPS after purchasing the Bricklayer VPS. The following is the main introduction. Tutorial on uninstalling BBR acceleration.

1. Delete BBR acceleration code

vi /etc/sysctl.conf

Release or delete the code related to BBR acceleration (add a # sign at the front to indicate a comment):

# net.core.default_qdisc = fq # net.ipv4.tcp_congestion_control = bbr

2. Save modification instructions

Execute the following instructions to save and delete the modifications of BBR acceleration:

sysctl-p

Finally restart the VPS (reboot).

3. Check whether BBR is successfully closed

Use the following command to check whether BBR is successfully closed:

sysctl net.ipv4.tcp_available_congestion_control

If there is no BBR in the returned result, it means that BBR is closed successfully, as follows:
