Tutorial on turning off the firewall on Tencent Cloud Server and adding firewall rule settings

Tencent Cloud Host comes with a firewall rule by default to control the incoming traffic of the host. Therefore, after we modify the SSH port of Tencent Cloud Host, we will be unable to connect because Tencent Cloud Firewall has banned this port. Today I will introduce how to open the Tencent Cloud host firewall and add and set firewall rules.

1. Tencent Cloud Firewall View Tutorial

After opening and logging into the Tencent Cloud official website, enter the console and open the CVM host console or lightweight application host console. The firewalls of these two hosts are the same.

First enter the Tencent Cloud host management page:

Find the [Firewall] tab. Here you can see the firewall rules of this Tencent Cloud host. Tencent Cloud opens ports 22, 443, 80, and 3389 by default:

Only the ports opened in the firewall rules can be accessed, otherwise Tencent Cloud will deny all incoming traffic.

2. Tutorial on adding rules to Tencent Cloud Firewall

It is also very simple to add firewall rules for Tencent Cloud Host. Also on the Tencent Cloud Host Firewall page, click [Add Rule] to start adding:

For example, here we want to modify the new SSH port to 45432, then write 45432 in the [Port] column, and select [TCP] as the protocol:

After saving the new firewall rules, they will take effect directly. There is no need to restart the Tencent Cloud host. After adding the rules here (turn off the firewall), the designated port of our Tencent Cloud host will be open to the outside world and can be accessed.

If you want to turn off Tencent Cloud Firewall, just select [All] for the application type, which will allow all TCP, UDP, ICMP (Ping) and GRE:
