Introducing the tutorial of installing Windows system on vultr's VPS

Okay, the focus of this post is how to install the Windows system simply and straightforwardly on Vultr which costs $5 a month. This post is suitable for beginners. It is more detailed anyway, so veterans can avoid it.

The things you need to use are a windows ISO (server 2003 enterprise version). You can search a lot of them on Baidu!

Let's create a VPS. Before creating it, we first upload an ISO of our own. What I provided here is Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition. Click on the picture below:

First of all, the ISO must support the VirtIO driver; secondly, the ISO must be placed in a place where it can be downloaded directly via http. ISOs that need to support VirtIO drivers can be requested. The upload method is as shown below,

After clicking upload, it will probably look like this, indicating that the download is being processed:

Now we start to create a formal VPS, as shown below:

Choose the VPS type you need. There are three types. From left to right are SSD hard drive VPS (COMPUTE), HDD large hard drive storage VPS (STORAGE), and VDS (DEDICATED). You can choose according to your own needs. Generally, we just choose the first one. If the amount of data is huge, choose the middle one. If you need absolutely powerful performance and independent resources, then you can choose DEDICATED. Demonstrate the first one we chose:

Then let’s choose the data center. There are 14 options to choose from. From left to right and from top to bottom, they are: Los Angeles, Tokyo, Sydney, Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Miami, New York, Seattle, Silicon Valley, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, London, Paris. If you don’t know where these place names are, please search them on Baidu. Demo we choose the first one Los Angeles:

Then we choose the operating system of the VPS, 32-bit and 64-bit. The 32-bit version does not have windows and cannot customize the ISO. There is no way to choose the 64-bit one. All the official operating systems provided by Linux are free. , Windows 2012 is also available but this is charged. What we want is cost-effectiveness, so we choose Custom as shown below:

As shown below, we select the ISO that we have uploaded. In the third and fourth pictures of this post, we taught you how to upload your own ISO.

Next, select the configuration size of the VPS we need. Choose it yourself. If you click the mouse on the one you like, it will turn orange to indicate that it is selected:

It has been created and you can see the IP. Click Manage to enter the management, as shown below:

Start installing your own uploaded ISO, click Console in the picture below, and then the windows installation will begin:

We start to install the windows system through the web version of VNC. I think it is not a problem if you have installed XP, Windows 7 and the like. Ignore the installation process. Remember to need the serial number. Use the one I mentioned earlier or use Baidu by yourself. , remember it is Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition.

After the installation is completed, we need to enable the 3389 remote connection function. The steps are roughly: right-click on the desktop: My Computer-Properties-Remote-Remote Desktop. Remember to pay attention to the issues of authorized users. These belong to the security scope of Windows. If you don’t understand, set it up yourself.
