If any of our friends who are using the WordPress program will find that the official version of WordPress 5.0 has a push update upgrade over the weekend. Friends who are familiar with the previous beta version should know that this major update is not a security update, but mainly releases the default editor Gutenberg and the new default theme Twenty Nineteen. I saw that many netizens complained about the new editor. Compared with the previous traditional editor, it has indeed changed a lot.
We have also seen various complaints about WP on foreign platforms, and some even said that no one would use WP anymore. In fact, for the WordPress program, it has been working hard to maintain and update it, and it is constantly trying new things. Some editing users still prefer the Gutenberg editor. And the official has also given us time to adapt. It is mentioned that we will cancel the switch to the traditional Classic Editor in 2021.
Currently, what we can do is adapt to the current Gutenberg editor, or temporarily switch to the Classic Editor. Maybe we will continue to use the new editor in the future when we are familiar with it? Or if we don’t adapt, will there be editor plug-ins provided by other third parties that can replace the traditional ones?
First, the default Gutenberg editor
What we see here is indeed refreshing, but for friends who have not played the beta version before, it is really confusing, and there is currently no Chinese version, which looks even more mysterious. If we are interested, we can slowly adapt to it, but it will definitely be unaccustomed to it at first.
Except for the title, which can be entered normally, other content parts of this Gutenberg editor are customized through modularization. It is very flexible and we can put it however we want. It is okay for users who need rich editing, such as users who build their own websites, but for bloggers who use traditional text editing + intermediate pictures, it is really not necessary.
We can control a paragraph module individually. There is no problem in using it. I have experienced it with Snail for a while before. Since the merchant has officially launched it, it must have been tested and investigated before. After all, some people will be dissatisfied with every change, which is normal.
Second, temporarily replace the traditional editor
According to WP officials, if we don’t use the Gutenberg editor now, we can use plug-ins to replace it before 2021, or use the previous Classic Editor.
We just search for the "Classic Editor" plug-in directly in the plug-in, and then activate and install it.
As long as we activate it, it will be replaced by this traditional editor by default.
To summarize, Snail did have strong dissatisfaction when it upgraded to WP5.0 and actually forced users to use the Gutenberg editor. However, the merchant still had his reasons for such a decision. If we are not used to it, we can use other editors. Replacement, after all, there are still many options to choose from when it comes to plug-ins.
