The Bricklayer backend has recently added an operating system called AlmaLinux, which is a Linux distribution from CloudLinux. It is intended to replace CentOS and be compatible with RHEL. I actually introduced a CentOS alternative called RockyLinux before. This time it is another one, developed and mainly maintained by CloudLinux company. Installing AlmaLinux is very convenient for bricklayers. You can choose it directly when reinstalling the system, or you can install it through Mount ISO. This article first briefly introduces AlmaLinux and its development history, and then gives a tutorial for installing AlmaLinux by moving bricklayers.

AlmaLinux is a free and open source Linux distribution originally created by CloudLinux to provide a community-supported, production-ready, enterprise-class operating system that is binary compatible with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL). The first stable version of AlmaLinux was released on March 30, 2021.
On December 8, 2020, Red Hat announced that it would stop developing CentOS, which is a free downstream branch of the commercial version of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), and shorten its official support to concentrate on the development of CentOS Stream, which is Red Hat HATS is used to preview official rolling releases of content intended to be included in RHEL updates.
In response, CloudLinux, the company that maintains its own commercial Linux distribution (CloudLinux OS), created AlmaLinux, a community-supported spiritual successor to CentOS designed to be binary compatible with current RHEL. The first beta version of AlmaLinux was released on February 1, 2021, and the first stable version was released on March 30, 2021. AlmaLinux 8.x will be supported until 2029. On March 30, 2021, the AlmaLinux OS Foundation was established and took over the development and governance of AlmaLinux from CloudLinux Company. CloudLinux Company also committed to providing US$1 million in annual funding for the AlmaLinux project.
The name of this distribution comes from the Latin word "alma", meaning "soul", as a tribute to the Linux community.
This project is supported by organizations including AWS, ARM, cPanel, and Plesk.
