Use Alibaba Cloud Database RDS to configure WordPress to separate the local file management database

Snail opened the Alibaba Cloud database RDS at the end of last month, and the MYSQL database we commonly used was opened. In fact, the operation is simple. You can create a database user directly in the panel, as well as internal and external network addresses, and the authorization whitelist can be used.

Generally, some of our projects and software are not actually websites that use cloud databases. Most of our personal websites still use the website’s local server to configure the database. However, some netizens’ databases require higher performance. We encountered this before. Several netizens use the cloud database used by Weiqing. Before the expiration of this test cloud database, it can still test other functions. Today, we will use the cloud database when installing a regular WordPress website.

First, Alibaba Cloud database creation and whitelist

If we really need to use the website production environment, according to previous suggestions from netizens, it is best for the cloud server and cloud database to be in the same region, otherwise the problem of database connection delay and timeout will easily occur. Because in this article, the server tested by Snail is not Alibaba Cloud, so the external network connection is used here.

Here we first open the external network address and set up the whitelist.

When our cloud host configures the website database, we need to use the RDS cloud database and add the IP address of the cloud server to the whitelist.

After completion, we have prepared the Alibaba Cloud database external network address URL, database user and password information, so that we can configure the database during the WP program wizard installation.

Second, configure WordPress to introduce cloud database information

Here we download the WP source program normally, bind the domain name, and open the domain name to see an installation wizard. However, when entering the database information, we do not use our local server database, but use the database information created by the Alibaba Cloud database.

Here we fill in the information based on the Alibaba Cloud database created previously. The database address we saw before was Localhost, and here is our external network address. If the Alibaba Cloud server we use can use the intranet address, the intranet speed should actually be faster. It will be a normal installation afterwards. As long as the database information is correct, there will definitely be no problem.

Common WP websites will be successfully installed later.

Third, Alibaba Cloud RDS database management

Whether we are building a website or using it in other projects, the database should actually be more important than the file. For example, when we build a website, even if the website may have been backed up before, the data can still be restored if the database maintains the latest backup. Most of the content is written to the database, either locally or in a CMS program, and there are basically no frequent incremental additions.

In the Alibaba Cloud RDS database, you can set up scheduled backups and restore backups. We can restore the database according to actual needs.

At the same time, we can also go to the DMS cloud database management platform for management, which looks a bit like the familiar PHPMYADMIN, but has slightly more powerful functions.

In summary, the management and application of Alibaba Cloud Database RDS is actually not particularly complicated. All we need to do is activate the machine and choose the type of database to create. In the previous documents, Snail has always used MYSQL. We can also activate several other database versions. After creation, we need to set up a whitelist, and then connect to the project for use according to the internal network or the external network. Compared with ordinary self-built databases, cloud databases are more secure and provide automatic backup settings. Of course, the performance should also be optimized.
