Founded in 2010, CloudFlare is a cloud security startup that provides website acceleration, content optimization and DDoS attack defense, headquartered in San Francisco. Its business includes CloudFlare CDN, which deploys branch nodes around the world to accelerate website content distribution; CloudFlare optimizer, which allows web pages with public servers and third-party widgets to download Snappy software to mobile and PC clients; and provides spam, SQL injection, DDOS and other networks CloudFlare security provides attack security defense; and CloudFlare analytics provides website traffic analysis functions, etc.

CloudFlare currently has more than 4 million users in more than 30 countries around the world. The Internet requests it handles have reached 5% of the total global traffic, and the scale of security processing is also considerable. It is said that in August alone, it blocked 200 billion cyber attacks.

This round brings CloudFlare’s total funding to $183 million. This round of financing was led by Fidelity, but what is striking is that it also included Google, Microsoft, Baidu, Qualcomm and other giants. CloudFlare itself is not short of money (the Series C financing has not been used up, and its own business is already profitable), so the main purpose of this financing is to establish a closer strategic partnership with the giants. Just a week ago, CloudFlare just reached a partnership with Baidu. The two parties will use Baidu's data center in mainland China and CloudFlare's web traffic optimization technology to jointly provide two-way website acceleration services for international networks. This tie-in with Baidu is undoubtedly Further deepening CloudFlare's China strategy. CloudFlare currently has 17 data centers in China, and the company plans to increase this number to 50 next year.

Allowing other major giants to participate in investment can strengthen its development on the mobile and enterprise side. Qualcomm's experience in mobile and chips will help CloudFlare expand its mobile business, while cooperation with Microsoft can help CloudFlare gain more enterprise customers.
