Alibaba Cloud’s international payment methods add mainland China bank cards (VISA, MasterCard)

Alibaba Cloud has added a new payment method today: it supports binding bank cards issued in mainland China and paying. The Chinese cards that can be added can be issued by banks in mainland China with VISA, MasterCard , American Express, single-label bank cards with the JCB logo, but bank cards with only the UnionPay logo cannot be used. 1. Introduction to Alibaba Cloud International

Although Alibaba Cloud International Station and Alibaba Cloud Mainland China Station are both cloud service providers under Alibaba Cloud, the platform information is not accessible. You need to re-register your account and the types of cloud services provided are also different. Alibaba Cloud China Alibaba Cloud International may not provide services that are available in mainland China. Correspondingly, Alibaba Cloud may not provide cloud services provided by Alibaba Cloud International in mainland China.

2. Alibaba Cloud International Payment Method

In the past, Alibaba Cloud International could use US IP + Google Voice to register. Later, it was strictly enforced that only Hong Kong mobile phone cards + Hong Kong PayPal could be used to register. Today Alibaba Cloud International actually added a new payment method of mainland China bank card. It can be said that It’s still very unexpected. The following is the original text of the official announcement:

Starting from December 23, 2019, Alibaba Cloud International Station users can add bank cards issued in mainland China (hereinafter referred to as Chinese cards) and make payments! The supported Chinese cards can be single-label bank cards with VISA, MasterCard, American Express, JCB logos issued by banks in mainland China, or dual-label bank cards with both the above logos and the UnionPay logo. However, Bank cards with only the UnionPay logo are not supported.

This feature will be opened to international station customers in different countries (regions) in sequence, and the entire process will last until March 2020. The first countries (regions) to open up are Malaysia and Japan. When paying, Alibaba Cloud will initiate a US dollar deduction from your bank card. You can add your bank card during the registration process or on the "Payment Center - Payment Method Management" page.

Among the bank cards issued in mainland China, those with only the UnionPay logo cannot be bound to Alibaba Cloud International.
