UCloud is a mainland Chinese merchant recently recommended by this site. Its Chinese name is UCloud. It is a listed company. The Hong Kong VPS it provides uses ZenLayer data center, three-network direct connection, China Telecom CN2, China Mobile and China Unicom. I took China Unicom's direct route back to China. The route quality is very good and the website building speed is very fast. Yesterday, when Lao Wang introduced the UCloud Hong Kong data center in "Alibaba Cloud International Newbie Package Alternatives", he said that the bandwidth limit of his Hong Kong data center back to the mainland is 2Mbps. Today I will introduce this limit to you.
1. UCloud Hong Kong Data Center
UCloud overseas host active address: https://www.ucloud.cn/active/ulhost.html
The cheapest Hong Kong CN2 VPS on this event page only costs 150 yuan/year, and the highest bandwidth can be selected to 10Mbps. Whether it is entry-level website building or advanced use, it can basically meet the needs of most people, so Lao Wang has previously used this The website recommended UCloud many times, and I have already received a voucher to buy it.
But later I found an explanation about the bandwidth of the Hong Kong data center back to the mainland in the UCloud Document Center (https://docs.ucloud.cn/unet/eip/introduction):
The bandwidth from Hong Kong to the mainland adopts a dedicated route, and the product strategy is as follows:
1. If the purchased bandwidth value is less than or equal to 2Mbps, the upper limit of the bandwidth back to the mainland is the purchased value.
2. If the purchased bandwidth value is greater than 2Mbps and less than or equal to 20Mbps, the upper limit of the bandwidth back to the mainland is 2Mbps.
3. If the purchased bandwidth value is greater than 20Mbps, the bandwidth back to the mainland is limited to 1/10 of the purchased value.
It means that if you choose a 5Mbps or 10Mbps Hong Kong VPS, the bandwidth back to the mainland is still capped at 2Mbps. I can’t understand this. Tencent Cloud’s 5Mbps is 5Mbps. I don’t understand why UCloud has this limit here. Lao Wang chatted privately with UCloud customer service. He said that because his Hong Kong data center is good, indeed, the two-way CN2 GIA of China Telecom, direct connection to China Unicom and China Mobile, the route is indeed very good, but this is the same as Tencent Cloud Hong Kong. Regardless of whether this restriction is reasonable or not, it’s a shame that it’s not explained on the event page. A netizen here actually measured the UCloud Hong Kong VPS with a bandwidth of 10Mbps. The bandwidth back to the mainland is about 3-4Mbps. Although there is no limit to 2Mbps, it must be restricted.
The following is a screenshot of the official description:
2. Other UCloud overseas data center issues
UCloud has many overseas data center choices, including Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, Tokyo, Japan, Seoul, South Korea, etc. However, except for the direct connection to Hong Kong, China, the other data centers are all bypass routes. Here is the official Test IP:
- UCloud Hong Kong cloud host test IP: 118.193.37.4
- UCloud China Taipei test IP: 128.14.229.111
- UCloud China Kaohsiung test IP: 128.1.32.8
- UCloud Japan Tokyo test IP: 128.1.49.18
- UCloud Korea Seoul test IP: 128.1.36.13
- UCloud Thailand Bangkok test IP: 128.1.39.85
- UCloud Singapore test IP: 45.43.63.30
- UCloud Vietnam Ho Chi Minh test IP: 152.32.161.28
- UCloud Los Angeles test IP: 107.150.102.144
- UCloud Washington, USA test IP: 107.155.48.164
- UCloud UK London test IP: 104.218.164.142
- UCloud Dubai, UAE test IP: 107.155.60.16
So except for the Hong Kong data center, other overseas data centers are not suitable for website building.
There is another problem. If UCloud is hit, it will be black holed 24 hours a day. Compared to the other two companies in mainland China:
3. General review of UCloud Hong Kong Data Center
Sharing this news with everyone is not to say that UCloud is bad. After all, it is also a listed company in mainland China. UCloud mainland China hosting is also very cheap and reliable. It only costs 88 yuan in the first year. If you need a 1Mbps or 2Mbps Hong Kong VPS , UCloud Hong Kong VPS is still very popular (activity address: https://www.ucloud.cn/active/ulhost.html), Lao Wang is also planning to buy one, the price of 1,400 after 3 years with 2-core 4G2Mbps coupon is not bad It is relatively cheap, but if you plan to choose a 5Mbps or 10Mbps Hong Kong VPS, then you need to pay attention to the upper limit of the bandwidth back to the mainland.
