Someone recently left a message on this site saying that his brick mover could not connect to SSH, but the IP address could be pinged. I don’t know the reason, so this article will sort out the situation where SSH cannot be connected, but the IP address can be pinged. Several possible reasons allow everyone to quickly locate the problem and find a solution.
1. Check connection information
If the IP can be pinged, it means that the Bricklayer VPS is running normally. Therefore, the main reason why SSH cannot connect is that our connection information is wrong. We need to pay attention to the following points when connecting to the Bricklayer VPS remotely.
1. The username is root
The remote connection username of the Bricklayer VPS is root, which is all lowercase. It cannot be Root or ROOT. You need to pay attention to the following points, otherwise the problem of incorrect username and password will occur.
2. The SSH port is a random 5-digit number
The default SSH port of many VPSs is 22, but the SSH port of the Bricklayer VPS is a random 5-digit number. This can be found in the Bricklayer control panel and will be stated in the email.
3. The password will be sent to you via email
The password for BandwagonHOST's remote connection is also sent via email. If you can't find the password, you can change the password through the KiwiVM control panel. Detailed tutorial: "BandwagonHOST KiwiVM control panel function introduction and usage tutorial sharing"
In addition, this site has actually shared a detailed tutorial on how to check the remote connection information of Bricklayer. You can refer to: "How to check the SSH connection information of VPS after purchasing Bricklayer?" IP, port, root password, etc.》
2. IP availability check
If you confirm that your connection information is correct, but you still can't connect to the Bricklayer VPS, you can check whether the IP is available. The commonly used ipcheck and ping.pe can check the IP availability of the VPS.
1. ipcheck
Online tool: IP availability detection tool, follow the prompts to detect the IP and corresponding service port of the VPS:
IP availability detection tools generally have the following test results:
- Available in mainland China and abroad: this IP is available normally;
- Available abroad, not available in mainland China: This IP (or port service) cannot be used in mainland China;
- Not available in mainland China or abroad: Check whether the host is down or whether Ping is disabled (ICMP is not available), and whether the host needs to manually open the firewall (TCP is not available).
2.ping.pe
ping.pe is a detection tool officially launched by Bricklayer. How to use it can refer to: "ping.pe: An online tool to detect VPS IP connectivity and port connectivity"
3. Brick movers bring their own inspection tools
In addition to the two commonly used tools above, Bricklayer also has a link to specifically detect whether the IP is available.
Log in to KiwiVM (the official website of KiwiVM>>>), find the instance of KiwiVM that cannot be connected under Services->My Services, enter the KiwiVM Control Panel, and then open the IP detection link: https://kiwivm .64clouds.com/main-exec.php?mode=blacklistcheck, click Test Main IP to start testing:
There are still two test results:
- IP NOT BLOCKED: IP is normal;
- IP BLOCKED: The IP is blocked.
3. Solution to the problem of connection failure
If you have checked that the connection information is correct, then the reasons why you cannot connect to the Bricklayer VPS can generally be attributed to two types:
1. The Bricklayer VPS system is damaged
Some people randomly install programs on Bricklayer VPS. For example, BBR acceleration requires reinstalling the system version, which may cause the system to be damaged and unable to start. At this time, the most convenient solution is to reinstall the system. Bricklayer supports one-click reinstallation. System: "Tutorial on Checking the Current System Version and Reinstalling the System"
2. IP blocked
It is possible to connect abroad, but not in mainland China, so the IP of the Bricklayer VPS is blocked. You can wait for the natural seal (the time is uncertain), or you can pay a fee to apply to change the IP address: "Tutorial on changing IP for bricklayers, the free IP change has been offline, and you can only pay to change it"
The above is the analysis of the reasons why the Tileworker cannot be connected and pinged. If you also encounter the problem that the Tileworker suddenly cannot be used, you can find the solution in this article.
