SoftLayer is a well-known provider of high-end datacenter servers and is a subsidiary of IBM. Recently, three data centers in Asia, Hong Kong, Japan, and Singapore, have canceled direct connections to China lines and the speed is not as good as most lines in Los Angeles, the United States. This incident caused many personal hosting providers, Alexander, to lose money and cancel their services because of less renewals, hehe! Based on this situation, some host companies have issued announcements, and some have provided refund services. Below, this site intercepts announcements or notices issued by some hosting companies in mainland China.

1. Announcement from server.xin hosting provider

To all users:
Because SL suddenly canceled SL's direct line to China without any prior notice, and after repeated communication, it still failed to solve the problem and did not provide any compensation plan, which directly caused a large number of users to stop renewing their subscriptions, causing a huge loss of tens of thousands of dollars to our company. Loss is enough to lead to bankruptcy. Therefore, our company had to announce the suspension of server operations in the SL datacenter.
The Singapore datacenter will stop service on April 11, and the Hong Kong datacenter will stop service on April 17. It can still be used normally before expiration. Users are requested to back up their data in time. The official website homepage will be closed from now on to prevent anyone from continuing to make payments. The VPS control panel can continue to be used until the service is stopped. Although we have no money (all the money has been handed over to the datacenter, but no one renews), we have no intention of using this as an excuse to leave. We have tried our best to compensate users through borrowing money. If we don't make any money, we still have to pay off the debt. So if there is anything wrong, I hope you will understand and forgive me.

Refunds will be issued to users who meet the following conditions:
1. Users who paid after April 1 will be refunded within half a month.
2. If the remaining time exceeds 30 days, one month's fee will be refunded every 30 days (with the service stop date as the starting point).
3. Users who paid within 48 hours will receive a full refund.

Other user information will be sealed, and services will continue after SL resumes direct connection depending on the situation.

Users who are eligible for refunds are asked to send the following information to serverxin@outlook.com. Please do not apply through other means, including work orders.
The sending email address must be your website registered email address.
Title: Apply for a refund
Content: screenshot of the latest payment voucher, payment bill number, vps activation email or screenshot of the latest bill email, Alipay account for refund application (must be the same as the payment account).
The above content is indispensable and is used to prove the user’s identity.

Deadline for refund application: 2016.4.15
Deadline for refund issuance: 2016.4.30

Again: thank you.

2. Starlight Internet background user notification

Dear Customer,

Recently, Softlayer has canceled direct routes to mainland China, causing users in this region to experience increased latency and packet loss rates. Direct routing will not be restored in the short term.

Affected services: VPS and dedicated servers from Mega-I (Hong Kong) and Equinix (Japan)

Since we currently do not have alternative data centers in these two regions, VPS users who are not satisfied with the network conditions can request a replacement data center (South Korea or Shatin, Hong Kong) or a prorated refund.

Under normal circumstances, we do not provide datacenter replacement or refund services for dedicated server users, but we can provide case solutions. Please submit a service ticket to discuss with us.

We apologize for the inconvenience caused to you.

In fact, these two service providers are quite good. It is expected that many host companies will issue the same notice or announcement this month. The reason is that the host renewal rate is low due to the detour from the softlayer datacenter to the China Telecom and China Unicom network. , already in a state of loss.

A kind reminder for users in such an incident is that when purchasing a vps host, it is best to choose monthly payment and make regular backups of data, even if there is a problem with the line or the merchant runs away and causes losses to himself Reduce it to the lowest level, so that you don’t end up complaining and getting nothing! Because no business can guarantee 100% stability of the line, guarantee that your data must be 100% safe, and guarantee that the server is 100% stable at any time, wait... especially for very cheap and cheap vps hosts!
