Submarine optical cables are the backbone of the international Internet. The number of optical cables represents the closeness of a country's connection with the Internet.
Someone used Microsoft's Bing Maps and Wikipedia data to create an interactive global submarine optical cable distribution map (http://www.cablemap.info/). It's really awesome.
This is one of the best maps I've ever seen.
As you can see from the map, there are only three submarine optical cable connection points in mainland China, so it is very easy to control entry and exit information.
The first one is Qingdao (2 optical cables).
The second one is Shanghai (6 optical cables).
The third one is Shantou (3 optical cables).
Due to the overlap between optical cables, in fact, all the channels between mainland China and the Internet are 3 entrances and 6 optical cables.
