Two essential software for building a Linux host server website

Some time ago, we have been organizing a series of tutorials on Linux host website building. After all, compared to Windows systems, some remote operation tools and software may be required. Most netizens should be able to find software that suits them, and the most commonly used ones are SSH tools and FTP tools. Some netizens need to be specific about what software we use. So I'm going to post an article about commonly used software before continuing to post tutorials. Here we commonly use the SSH tool XShell and the FTP tool WINSCP.

Personally, if we use software for server management, we must download it from the official website. Never use the so-called green cracked version or the third-party Chinese version. There may be backdoors that make your server insecure. Moreover, if there is a new version of the software, it needs to be upgraded to the latest version in time. There have been security issues with some software before. Of course, what is more important is that server data should also be backed up regularly.

First, SSH connection tool

The SSH connection tool must be used, because after we open the Linux server, the account given is the IP address, port, and server password. The default user name is root. If we are more proficient in the server later, we can modify our own For the time being, the passwords and permissions given by them will be used by default. However, some server providers do not give you a root username. It depends on the service provider.

There are many SSH tools, such as PUTTY, SecureCRT, and XSHELL. Among them, XSHELL is the one we use most, and it has been forcibly upgraded to version 6.0. We have also shared similar articles in previous articles.

Here we select Home and school use in the License Type. Other options are optional. The email address requires real information because it will be sent to us for downloading. It usually takes a while for it to be sent, and we can download it after we see it.

Here the author recommends that we download both SSH and FTP tools together. I personally recommend using the XFTP FTP tool. If you download this FTP tool together, you don’t need to download the WINSCP below. After we submit, the official will send the download address to us via email to download and install. After installation, we can use it.

Second, FTP tool

For FTP tools, we can also download SFTP from the same merchant as XSHELL or use WINSCP, which we also commonly use.

According to our server information, to establish an SFTP link, you need to enter the user name (IP) and the port depends on the actual server. The user name defaults to root and the password should be set by ourselves when we install the system.

We can see the local files on the server and then transfer them to each other.

To summarize, we need to use these two software when learning and using Linux hosts and servers. Of course, we can also use it if we have other habits. The tools only assist us in using them, and we don’t necessarily need to use which one.
