Contabo has a total of 5 data centers, Germany and Singapore have been evaluated before; starting from today, we will gradually release the VPS evaluation of Contabo’s 3 U.S. data centers. Let us first take a look at New York, the east coast of the United States. The evaluation content and evaluation data of the data center are for reference only. The actual effect is better if you try it yourself!

The CPU is still AMD EPYC 7282, 2.8~3.2GHz, 16 cores and 32 threads; we still use the lowest configuration VPS for testing, and the hard disk is NVMe (you can choose SSD or HDD by yourself). I/O is approximately 382MB/S, BBR has been enabled:
FIO test, this may be more accurate:
At around eight o'clock in the morning, speedtest.net's China node tested the uplink and downlink bandwidth data of the VPS. It was basically difficult for the uplink to exceed 100Mbps. Please note that the minimum default bandwidth of the VPS is 200Mbps:
At around 20:12 during the evening peak, the uplink speed of several China Unicom nodes can reach around 100Mbps:
Test results of other nodes in Asia:
The effect of iperf3 running in Europe and the United States is not up to 200Mbps:
At around 8:10 a.m., Guangzhou Telecom downloaded the files on the vps directly through the browser, with a speed of approximately 7.5MB/S:
At around 21:30 during the evening rush hour, the speed dropped to about half, 3.5MB/S:
The ping value obtained from the 80 node test in mainland China provided by ping.chinaz.com is a bit too high:
On the outbound journey of China Telecom, the backbone network is connected to cogentco, which runs from San Jose on the west coast of the United States:
On the outbound journey of China Unicom, China Unicom's backbone network connects with cogentco and crosses from Los Angeles on the west coast of the United States:
Mobile outbound journey from mainland China, export from Guangdong to Hong Kong CMI Street cogentco and cross from Los Angeles to New York:
Return to Mainland China Telecom: New York, London, England and then back to China
Return to China Unicom: For Beijing and Shanghai, you need to exit from the computer room in New York and take cogentco across the United States. From San Jose, take AS4837 directly back to China. The direction to Guangzhou is similar, but it only exits from Los Angeles.
Return, move to mainland China: Beijing, like Guangzhou, travels from New York across the United States to the Los Angeles node on the west coast and then directly connects to AS9808 back home; the difference in the Shanghai direction is that it exits from the mobile node in San Jose and then directly connects to AS9808 back home< /p>
In the end, I lost a Unix bench score of 2918, which is not bad:
To summarize:
For outbound journeys, the three networks are almost the same;
For the return trip, China Telecom detoured through Europe; China Unicom straightened the AS4837 back to China; China Mobile directly used the AS9808 international link from its own node on the west coast of the United States to return home. Therefore, overall, the VPSA on the East Coast of the United States may be better than China Unicom and China Mobile, but considering the quality of the mobile network, the actual effect during the evening peak hours may not be much better. Based on comprehensive judgment, It may be safer for China Unicom users next time!
