serverfield has added the "Non-Direct China Route" series of VPS, which is actually a VPS whose route is not directly connected to China Telecom and China Unicom, but is connected to "Telecom CN2, China Mobile, Hinet, FET, TFN ” route direct connection. The default bandwidth is 100M. Based on KVM virtualization, the traffic has expanded four to five times compared to the previous direct connection. This article will tell you how effective it is through testing. Data is for reference only!

VPS features: KVM virtualization, SSD hard drive, comes with an IPv4, 100Mbps bandwidth, routing is not directly connected to the VPS of China Telecom and China Unicom, but is connected to "Telecom CN2, China Mobile, Hinet, FET, TFN in Taiwan, China" "Routing direct connection

Memory CPU SSD Traffic Price Purchase
1G 1 core 10G 1T/month $11.99/month Link
2G 1 core 20G 2T/month $22.99/month Link
4G 2 cores 40G 4T/month $44.99/month Link

The test used was 4G memory, 2 cores, 40G SSD, and 4T traffic. After getting it, I started BBR. The IP announced by the official broadcast, the hard disk I/O is about 840M:

To test the hard disk read and write in more detail:

During the evening peak period, the telecommunications performance is particularly bad. China Unicom, China Mobile and China Mobile still have little impact:

The test was performed during the leisure time of the backbone network during the day, and both uplink and downlink were OK:

Testing of other nodes in Asia:

iperf3 tests European and American effects:

Guangzhou Telecom can directly download files stored on VPS, which can reach 7.5MB/S (the highest speed) during the evening peak period:

During leisure time during the day, the 100M bandwidth of the VPS can be nearly fully used:

PING data test of 80 nodes in mainland China, provided by ping.chinaz.com (tested at night):

The outbound journey from Telecom, after the backbone network, all the way to NTT Japan, then to NTT Taiwan, and finally to the computer room:

China Unicom’s outbound journey is the same as Telecom’s backbone network, all the way to NTT to Japan and then to Taiwan:

On the outbound journey of Mobile, Guangdong exports to Hong Kong CMI and then to Taiwan. This is considered Mobile's "standard direct connection":

Since the official said that Telecom CN2 is also directly connected, we should pay attention here: Telecom CN2 goes to Hong Kong NTT, then to Taiwan NTT and then to the computer room:

Return trip to Mainland China Telecom: Beijing direction-the Taiwan computer room came out and went to Germany and then returned to China, Shanghai direction-the Taiwan computer room took NTT to Japan and then returned to Shanghai, Guangzhou direction-the Taiwan computer room came out of the Taiwan computer room and went to Hong Kong Mobile Node and then returned to Guangzhou Mobile to transfer to China Telecom . I am from Guangzhou Telecom, so the good download speed is probably related to this aspect.

Return to China Unicom: Beijing direction - Taiwan computer room comes out to Hong Kong Mobile Node, then to Guangzhou Mobile, then to Beijing Mobile to transfer to China Unicom; for Shanghai and Guangzhou directions, first take NTT to Japan and then return to China

Return, move to the mainland: It is speculated that the node is moved from Taiwan to Hong Kong and then returned to the mainland

Let’s do a streaming media unlocking test:

Finally, I went to Unix bench, and the effect was OK:

To summarize:

Judging from the routing results of the test, the effect of Northern Telecom is not expected to be very good. The effect of the telecommunications entrance from Shanghai is average, and the telecommunications entrance from Guangzhou should be pretty good. The overall effect of China Unicom is good, and China Mobile should be the best.
