UCloud Vietnam cloud server evaluation experience – a cloud server suitable for local businesses in Vietnam

Among the cloud computing service merchants in mainland China, many of our personal webmasters are familiar with Alibaba Cloud, Tencent Cloud, Baidu Cloud and other merchants. However, there are still many host companies that have been facing government and enterprise user groups, and we personally may not know much about them. Currently, UCloud merchants have more than 20 data centers including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Taiwan, Singapore, Vietnam, Moscow, Tokyo, etc., covering five continents around the world. It can be seen that merchants are also interested in starting overseas business.

At the same time as the competition for computer room nodes and user base in mainland China, mainstream merchants including mainland China are also preparing to seize overseas market share. In a previous article, Snail has shared UCloud merchant Hong Kong computer room evaluation information. Because for Hong Kong, most mainland Chinese user projects will have a choice, after all, to avoid some policy reasons. In this article, Snail is going to experience it personally and take a look at the UCloud merchant's Vietnam computer room.

First, UCloud Vietnam cloud host configuration

UCloud Vietnam data center is located in Ho Chi Minh City. The configuration is similar to other data centers, with a basic 1 core, 1GB memory, and 20GB default system disk selection. If the bandwidth billing model is used, the minimum bandwidth is 1M bandwidth. Or we can charge according to the traffic billing mode, and of course we can also set the bandwidth size.

This needs to be selected based on our actual project. If the subsequent bandwidth is insufficient, you can directly upgrade online. This general cloud server merchant will provide basic functions. Therefore, Snail recommends that any hosting provider not choose too high a configuration in the initial stage of the project.

Second, UCloud Vietnam cloud host evaluation

In this article, Snail chose the basic 1C/1G/1M bandwidth solution for testing.

1. PING speed test

A – Mainland China node

Here we can see that among the nodes in mainland China, the mobile node is the fastest. The local operator in Vietnam should be connected to China Mobile's network. Coupled with the cooperation between UCloud and China Mobile, the quality of the return line is very good. China Unicom's speed is also pretty good. The speed of mobile and China Unicom nodes is still relatively good. However, the telecom node is not very good. The telecom node should be on a detour route. In contrast, the speed of telecom is relatively average. It should be a sub-optimal path problem of the BGP line. We will look at routing tracing later. Maybe merchants launching Vietnamese node computer rooms are mainly targeting Vietnamese or South Asian business user groups.

B – PING speed of three random Vietnamese nodes

Here we randomly selected 1 node each in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi City for testing.

We can see that the speed for Vietnam is relatively good.

2. Route tracing reference

The main user sharing of UCloud Merchant Vietnam Computer Room is aimed at the foreign trade needs of local Vietnamese and non-local business group users in China. So Snail is going to test several Vietnamese nodes on the route.

3. MTR test performance

What is MTR? Mtr is a network diagnostic tool that combines the functions of the "traceroute" and "ping" programs.

3. Configuration, IO reading and writing capabilities

Currently, Snail’s test machine is a basic solution, and our users can upgrade and expand it in the future according to the project. For hard disk deployment, it is recommended to use a mount disk. It can be seen that the mainstream KVM architecture is adopted, and Linux and Windows systems can be selected on the system.

Third, summary of UCloud Vietnam computer room

1. From the price point of view, Vietnam cloud servers start at 65 yuan/month + 30 yuan/month IP. Compared with Hong Kong computer room costs, the cost is relatively low. UCLOUD's Vietnam computer room has excellent lines for Vietnam and is suitable for our users' business in Vietnam or Asia.

2. UCloud Vietnam computer room, like other computer rooms, can choose fixed bandwidth or traffic-based billing mode. This needs to be selected based on our actual project operations, and can be expanded later based on business needs.
