Since gcore launched the Basic VM cloud server as low as 3.0 euros/month, which is much cheaper than the official regular cloud server, and there are currently 21 optional data centers, many people are eager to try it, and some Novices even have problems creating VMs. For this reason, let’s briefly talk about what you need to pay attention to when creating and the areas where mistakes are easy to make.

Why do I find that I can’t use it after successfully creating a VM?

General situation:

I am used to logging in with the root password, but I don’t know this is the SSH KEY

Other merchants usually do not have firewalls by default. The default firewall policy here is too strict and you need to modify or recreate your own rules.

Port 25 is officially blocked. When setting all TCP ports to open, it must be divided into two sections to set 1-24 and 26~65535. A direct rule cannot be created.

Network settings, the add interface here can be ignored by default, and you can handle it again if you need to.

Firewall settings, please note that the default firewall policy restricts many things and is basically unavailable. The official description is "By default, all incoming traffic from outside a network is blocked. Select the firewall group or create a new one with the allowed network traffic rules." It is recommended that you ignore it directly, choose to click "Add a Firewall", and then edit your own rules. Port 25 is officially blocked. When you plan to open all TCP\UDP ports with one rule, it cannot be set. It is recommended to fill in 1-24 in customization, and then create another one to fill in 26-65535.

SSH key does not support root password login by default. It is mandatory that only SSH KEY can be used to log in. Note that the login username of Ubuntu is ubuntu\debian and the login username is debian. You can add a "add a new ssh key" or directly generate a "generate a SSH Key". I personally like to click "generate a SSH Key" to save trouble, and write it clearly when naming it, so that it is easy to remember and distinguish.

Additional options, this will work regardless of the default

How many instances do you need? How many cloud servers do you need to create at one time? The default is 1. You should fill in a name in the Name on the second line (you can do it arbitrarily, but it is best to fill it in purposefully to facilitate memory and respectively)!
