wholesaleinternet is an old American brand founded in Kansas in 1999; by the way, nocix.net (datashack) is also owned by them, with different vests but the same content; its main business is independent server rental and equipment hosting. The upstream operators are Arelion (fka. Telia Carrier), Cogent, and T-Mobile US (Sprint). Since independent servers are cheap and provide 1Gbps bandwidth with unlimited traffic, many people are eager to try it... So, what is Wholesale Internet like? How is nocix.net? Outbound journey from China Telecom: Directly connected to China Telecom’s San Jose node, then take twelve99 to Kansas

Outward journey from China Unicom: Directly connect to China Unicom’s San Jose node and then take cogent all the way to Kansas in the central region

Mobile outbound journey: Directly connected to the mobile Los Angeles node, then take the cogent to the central city and finally to Kansas

Telecom return trip: take twelve99 to San Jose, and directly connect back to China from the pop of Telecom/cogent/telia

China Unicom return trip:

Beijing direction: take twelve99 through the east coast to France, Germany and then return to China

Shanghai/Guangzhou direction: take twelve99 to Los Angeles and then return to China

Mobile return:

Beijing direction: Take cogent all the way westbound and get a direct connection from the mobile Los Angeles node peer back to China

Shanghai direction: Take cogent all the way west to San Jose, and return directly from the mobile San Jose node

Guangzhou direction: take cogent from the east coast to the UK, cogent transfers to China Mobile's peer in London, and then directly connects back to China

A rough summary:

This is a stand-alone server, so performance testing doesn’t make much sense. However, what everyone needs to pay attention to is the hard drive data. It’s best to test it after you get it. Based on past experience, many of their hard drives last for tens of thousands of hours. The glorious title of a junkyard!

In terms of network, some take a detour to Europe and the United States and then come back, some take international routes directly from the West Coast, and some use peers from the three major operators and other routes and then directly connect back to China. Judging from the actual measured data during the evening peak, China Telecom and China Mobile have almost lost their authority and have no time to play, while China Unicom is just so-so. If you don’t have a very effective CDN, then it’s better to quit if you are targeting mainland China!
