Because various free cloud disk storage merchants in mainland China have successively implemented strict audits, or some have simply closed down, and some even though they can be used, there are various problems from time to time that cause files to be lost. Snail also used a certain cloud disk for a period of time before. It was obviously regular content, but it had been deleted the next time I looked at it. I don’t know why. If it is multi-person collaboration or content sharing mode, we can build private cloud storage. I briefly experienced the construction of Seafile cloud disk in the previous week, because many people mentioned that this is easier to use than OWNCLOUD.

In terms of construction, it is more convenient to use the one-click package installation from XIAOZ. Here I have also compiled the installation process (one-click quick self-build installation of Seafile to build private cloud disk storage). Now that everything is set up, here I want to see how to use it. Seafile is also characterized by its many clients, supporting WIN, MAC, Linux and various server-side and mobile phone applications that can be used simultaneously.

PS: If we use personal storage documents, we can use tree directory software to build it, and there is no need to install cloud storage unless we have various private and public permissions to share separately.

First, set up startup

Some netizens here mentioned that after one-click installation of Seafile, the installation was installed, but the startup item was not set. If the server restarts, you will not be able to log in. Here we can set the restart of Seafile to the startup item.

chmod +x /etc/rc.d/rc.localvi /etc/rc.d/rc.local

/home/MyCloud/seafile-server/seafile.sh start/home/MyCloud/seafile-server/seahub.sh start

Save the startup Seafile settings in the startup items. At this time, there will be no problem if we restart the server.

Second, download the Seafile client

Client download address: https://www.seafile.com/download/

Download the client according to our needs and our own system. Here I briefly experience the WIN client.

1. Install software

Here we directly download the client software, then double-click to install it, select the installation directory, and select the management document directory of the cloud disk.

2. Set up a remote account

Add an account based on our network disk address.

After logging in, we can see a fairly good client interface that can manage files and transfers. You can also add multiple Seafile accounts and manage them at the same time.

3. Shared files

The self-built network disk is more powerful and has the same functions as the third-party network disk we use. It can share different files according to different users, and can share encrypted documents.

Third, solve the problem of Seafile being unable to upload files

Due to different firewall settings on different servers, I turned off the firewall on one server and didn't find the problem of not being able to upload files, but a friend mentioned that they couldn't upload files after installation.

The problem here is that the firewall does not open port 8082, resulting in the inability to transfer files.

firewall-cmd –zone=public –add-port=8082/tcp –permanent

firewall-cmd –reload

Then you can upload the file normally.

In summary, Seafile is relatively simple to use. It basically has the same functions as our third-party free network disk, and is suitable for team collaboration and document sharing and downloading. Generally speaking, it depends on whether our project needs it, but I don't need it at the moment.
