Since you choose to build a website, you are bound to struggle all the time, from the website theme and program to the choice of server merchant and route. We look back on the past few years. A certain computer room of a certain merchant had good speed, but soon it was necessary to change merchants and change lines. What we have seen most recently is that among overseas lines, the CN2 GT and CN2 GIA lines are slightly better. In fact, Snail personally recommends that if our Chinese website has no content problems, it is recommended to use the mainland China computer room and complete various procedures.

There is nothing else to write about today. This morning I saw that the merchant’s so-called limited edition CN2 GIA-E solution has been restocked. This merchant did attract users through low prices in the past, but now the price cannot be said to be expensive, it can only be said to be similar to that of mass merchants. If it is a toss-up, it is really not suitable, because the merchant does not allow free replacement of blocked IPs, and it is not cost-effective if your IP is blocked due to your tossing. (Most merchants have long payment cycles, such as annual payment and half-year payment)

As for the current mainstream overseas merchant routes, the ones we see most are CN2 GIA and CN2 GT. So what do the routes look like and what are the differences? Let me share it through this article, at least conceptually, and you can brag about it in the future. In fact, for snails, I rarely pay attention to the concept of these lines. I like to actually experience the speed.

First, understanding of basic concepts

CN2 GT: Global Transit, abbreviated as GT. This type also belongs to the CN2 line, but the mid-range products in the CN2 line have a relatively low level in CN2. The provincial exit is node 202.97, which only enters the CN2 backbone network when crossing the border. The outbound/international cross-border node starts at 59.43. Therefore, network congestion may occur during the evening peak period, but there are still many improvements compared to the traditional 163 backbone network. CN2 GT China International Export has its own separate line, but the link in mainland China still uses the 163 backbone network.

CN2 GIA: GIA in English stands for Global Internet Access, which provides corporate customers with high-quality China-bound Internet dedicated line access services. Note that GIA specifically refers to dedicated line services with China. It is mainly a high-quality network provided to enterprises, with its own access network CN2 (AS4809), full export CN2 (AS4809) routing, and international network high-speed and stable links to the Chinese mainland network. The quality of this bandwidth should be the best in telecommunications networks, but its shortcomings are also obvious. The egress bandwidth of the entire GIA is small, which is more likely to cause network fluctuations under the entire GIA when a large traffic attack occurs. The main advantage of GIA is that it has a separate line back to the country, with high priority and high quality, but the access price is relatively expensive.

Second, how to distinguish CN2 GT and CN2 GIA

Here we first sort out the provincial exit of the CN2 GT line, which is generally node 202.97 (163 backbone network nodes). It only enters the CN2 backbone line when crossing the border, and then the node usually starts with 59.43. Let's try using the CN2 GT IP address to visit the Shanghai node.

CN2 GIA node line test, if we have a node in our province, we will connect to this CN2 node. If there is a CN2 node (Nanjing, Jiangsu) in this province, the CN2 GIA line directly connects to the CN2 node (59.43) in Nanjing, and then exits from Shanghai. However, if there is no CN2 GIA node in the province in the CN2 GIA line, it will be connected to the nearest node 202.97 in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou, and then to node 59.43.

CN2 GIA connects to provincial-level CN2 nodes in provinces where CN2 nodes are deployed, and provinces where CN2 nodes are not deployed connect to nearby Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou nodes. Here I tested the Changzhou node, then took the Nanjing CN2 node, and then went to sea from Shanghai.

In summary, the current CN2 node cities in mainland China include Chengdu, Nanjing, Xi'an, Wuhan, Urumqi, Guangzhou, Shanghai, and Beijing. Judging from personal experience of speed, the speed during the day is okay, but the CN2 GIA is indeed better at night.
