Google launches its own content delivery network Media CDN

At the 2022 NAB Show Streaming Summit, Google announced (https://cloud.google.com/blog/products/networking/introducing-media-cdn) Media CDN is generally available. Google has built a powerful infrastructure over the past decade to serve YouTube content to more than 2 billion users, and is now leveraging Media CDN to deliver services at scale to Google Cloud customers.

Google said that the basic advantage of Media CDN is the Google network. Google has established huge capacity and coverage in more than 200 countries and more than 1,300 cities around the world.

Media CDN provides a comprehensive API and automation tools such as Terraform. Detailed, pre-aggregated and replayable traces make it easy to diagnose the performance of the entire infrastructure stack. Provides real-time visibility through Google Cloud’s operations suite and integrates with tools developers already use, such as Grafana and ElasticSearch.

Media CDN deeply integrates with Google Cloud Armor for powerful DDoS protection, complete with a rich set of features to detect and mitigate attacks, prevent abuse, manage risk, and Comply with regulatory requirements.

Media CDN also offers additional features such as ad insertion, ecosystem integration and platform extensions, as well as AI/ML analytics.
