Demand Media acquires domain name registrar Name.com

Name.com was founded in 2003 and currently has 1.5 million registered domain names. Demand Media announced that it has acquired it. eNom.com is also owned by Demand Media!

Demand Media CEO and Chairman Richard Rosenblatt said, "Name.com will provide us with a direct channel to reach consumers and small businesses and help them develop and manage their online identities."

Demand Media has applied for 26 new gTLDs and is working with Donuts to apply for another 100 new gTLDs. Demand Media is also the back-end provider for registration of new gTLDs that Donuts will acquire.
