SolusVM provides the most basic and commonly used operations for controlling VPS, allowing you to easily get started with the VPS host. For example, merchants such as Banwagonhost, HostDare, and RackNerd on the market all use this panel. Of course, many other larger merchants develop their own secondary development or their own systems. Later, we will make a special tutorial based on the popularity of the merchants. This article takes the SolusVM panel as an example to list some common operations.

Step 1: Log in to the SolusVM interface through a browser (you can set the system language to Chinese after logging in)

Log in to the SolusVM interface and you will get a list of all VPS under your account:

Step 2: Click "Manage" behind the corresponding VPS to start managing the VPS host

The interfaces of different types of virtual hosts are slightly different, but they are all similar. Below we have marked in Chinese all the functions that novices need to use in the three different virtual host interfaces. Basic operations on VPS can be done by clicking Easily done with the mouse.

OpenVZ VPS

XEN VPS

KVM VPS

Description

1. About VPS reinstallation system

After clicking Reinstall, just select the Linux template you want to install, and then click the red "Reinstall" button at the bottom of the page. Usually you need to wait about 10 minutes (usually less than 10 minutes) until the installation is prompted and the VPS status changes to Online. XEN VPS and KVM VPS allow loading different Linux image files. If you need to use this function, you need to modify the Boot Order parameters accordingly.

2. About changing root password on VPS

Secure passwords are critical, secure passwords are critical, secure passwords are really critical. Say important things three times. Because the password is too weak, it is a very bad thing for the VPS to be hacked. After being abused, the traffic will be drained for no reason, the host will be stopped, and important emails will not be received. Therefore, the password must be secure and changed regularly.

Using SolusVM, users can complete the password modification according to the above diagram. What needs to be noted is:

  • For OpenVZ VPS, changing the password does not require restarting the system.
  • For XEN VPS, after changing the root password, you need to restart the VPS for it to take effect.
  • For KVM VPS, choose to change the password. If successful, the system will return a new password after reset.

If you are not a complete Linux novice, our suggestion is to use SSH to log in to the VPS and use the Linux command line to complete the password change easily without restarting the host.

$ passwd

Enter the new password twice to complete the password change.

3. About Console and VNC

  • For OpenVZ VPS and XEN VPS, SolusVM provides a Serial Console/HTML5 console (similar to Terminal under Linux, or Putty under Windows) for logging into the server in emergency situations. Please note that users should not use it as an SSH client. end use.
  • For KVM VPS, SolusVM provides more powerful VNC functionality.
