Sending emails is a basic function of the website. WordPress also involves sending emails in registration, password retrieval, comment notifications, etc. Generally, virtual hosts have their own PHP email function. For VPS and cloud servers, you need to configure related functions yourself. Even if the host can send emails normally, since the emails sent by PHP's default email function are easily treated as spam and the delivery rate is not high, we still highly recommend using SMTP to send emails.
Currently, there are many SMTP-related plug-ins for WordPress. Here is an introduction to the use of the WP Mail SMTP plug-in.
WP Mail SMTP installation settings
Enter the background Plug-in>Install plug-in, search for WP Mail SMTP, install and enable it.
Go to Settings>Email and fill in the relevant information, as shown in the figure:
Please determine the specific information according to the SMTP email address you use. If it is a QQ mailbox, you also need to enable the SMTP function under Settings>Account>POP3/IMAP/SMTP/Exchange/CardDAV/CalDAV Service of the mailbox. Regarding the settings of different mailboxes, you can search for SMTP setting tutorials for related mailboxes on the Internet.
After completing the settings, remember to save it, and then you can test whether the email can be sent normally, as shown in the figure:
Fill in the receiving email address and click the Send button. If you can receive the email, it means the configuration is normal.
