"Have you ever seen what Los Angeles looks like at 4 a.m.?" It doesn't matter if you don't, you can easily configure a free remote desktop in Los Angeles. Using Amazon Global Availability Zones, you can even build remote desktops that meet your configuration needs from anywhere in the world.

This tutorial requires you to have an Amazon Cloud Technology overseas account first. Currently, you can enjoy a 12-month free package by registering an Amazon Cloud Technology account, including EC2 and other popular products.

Step 1: Start an Amazon Lightsail instance

Find Lightsail under (Compute) in all services and click to open the Lightsail control panel.

After entering the Amazon Lightsail welcome screen, click Create instance to create and configure a Lightsail instance. You can also select Chinese in the language option in the lower right corner for convenient settings.

Step 2 - Configure Remote Desktop

In the pop-up setting interface, from top to bottom, you can choose:

  • IP location of the virtual desktop;
  • Operating system platform (it is recommended that beginners choose Windows for easier management. If there are no special requirements for the virtual desktop system version, just choose the latest version of Windows);
  • Configuration and paid plans (the current free trial configuration can be experienced for 3 months);

After selecting, click Create Instance.

The instance status is "Pending" which means that the Lightsail instance is being created for you.

Step 3-Start Remote Desktop

Wait for a moment. If the instance displays "Running", it means that the configuration has been completed. And there will be a monitor icon in the upper right corner.

After clicking the monitor icon, the virtual desktop window will pop up.

Step 4 - Use Remote Desktop

Virtual keyboard input can be invoked.

You can also use the remote clipboard function in the lower right corner to enter characters, then copy and paste them into the remote desktop.

Use the browser in the virtual desktop to query the IP address of the current remote desktop.
