Tencent Cloud’s free .cn privacy protection service has been offline, and the new service is priced at 39 yuan/year/unit

Today I noticed that this free service has been offline. From February 23, 2023, CNNIC privacy protection service The price is 39 yuan/year/unit. Friends who use Tencent Cloud to register domain names in mainland China need to pay attention because of this service.

1. Tencent Cloud CNNIC Privacy Protection Service

This site has previously introduced you to Tencent Cloud’s domain name privacy protection services in mainland China (including .cn domain name privacy protection, .net.cn domain name privacy protection, and .com.cn domain name privacy protection). But today, after opening the Tencent Cloud domain name console, we found that this free CNNIC privacy protection service has a free expiration date, as shown below:

I checked again and found that Tencent Cloud has stopped providing this service for free (for details, refer to: Turn on CNNIC privacy protection service):

• Since December 26, 2022, Tencent Cloud has stopped opening CNNIC privacy protection services for free.
• Starting from February 23, 2023, if you need to activate CNNIC privacy protection services, Tencent Cloud will charge a price of 39 yuan/year/unit.

The privacy protection fee for each domain name is 39 yuan/year, which is even higher than the price of the .cn domain name itself.

2. Other merchants that support .cn privacy protection

If you need to enable privacy protection for mainland Chinese domain names and feel that Tencent Cloud’s fees are too expensive, you can also consider other platforms. Currently, Aiming.com still supports free activation: "Aiming.com (22.cn) Tutorial on enabling whois privacy protection for .cn domain names.

In addition, you can also consider international domain names (such as .com, .net, etc.), which generally have free privacy protection services.
