Alibaba Cloud lightweight application server basic website building system deploys Web environment and applications

If we have been exposed to Alibaba Cloud host products from the beginning, we may be familiar with the ECS servers and virtual hosts. Now there are lightweight application servers. Here we will not analyze the configuration and architecture behind the products, but only focus on the application of the products themselves. It seems that lightweight application servers are more geared towards website building users. For example, when installing the system, you can choose an environment-free system image, or you can choose to install systems that come with environments such as LAMP, WordPress, and Pagoda Panel.

In fact, it can also be installed on the ECS server. You can choose to install it directly in the cloud market. Snail is not sure what Alibaba Cloud’s purpose is for this product. Secondly, the function in the lightweight application server panel is slightly simpler than that of the ECS server. Including regular system installation, security groups, snapshots, and disk management. In this article, Snail takes a look at how its own application image is operated and managed.

First, install the application image

Here Snail chooses to install the application image. If it is to install the system image, it is no different from the ECS we are familiar with. The application images here include direct installation of conventional CMS such as WP, LAMP, Node.js, ECSHOP, etc. But here I still install the pagoda panel. (It seems that Baota has been developing well in recent years, and it has cooperated with cloud host providers)

Here you can see that the test machine I have is being reset and installed. If we have important data, we need to back it up in advance, because the existing data will be lost after reinstalling the system.

Second, set up a firewall security group

After the installation was completed, Snail found that the ROOT of the original system could still be used, the system account had not changed, and then the pagoda panel was installed on the system. Of course, the original data is also gone. Here we may want to log in to the pagoda panel (because I installed this here), but we cannot log in. Because there is no security group set up, add port 8888 to it.

Here we refer to the article "Method for Setting Firewall Rules and Allowed Ports for Alibaba Cloud Light Application Server" to add the required 8888 and 888 ports.

Third, initialize panel account

Here we need to log in to SSH first, or connect remotely, and enter the password for the command initialization panel.

Here you can see our pagoda panel password. Copy the password, and then go to the login panel to initialize normally.

Does this look familiar? Just choose to install LNMP or LAMP. After completion, a pagoda panel is installed in the Alibaba lightweight application server, just like we installed it in the ECS server.

Fourth, summary

1. Compared with the ECS server, the Alibaba Cloud lightweight application server has more visual interface operations. (I will not analyze the differences between machines here) You can directly install the required image and set up the account visually.

2. If we don’t like to bring our own images, we can also install a streamlined version of the system ourselves, and then deploy it like an ECS server. Let’s not ignore the security group, which is inaccessible if not set. There is also a snapshot tool available. Snapshot backup on lightweight servers is free (currently). Snapshots can back up server data. The total number of snapshots is capped at the number of created instances multiplied by 3, but does not exceed 15. There is a charge for snapshots on the ECS server.
