At the end of January 2023, Oracle officially introduced the idle definition and recycling principles:

Oracle considers virtual machines and bare metal compute instances to be idle if the following conditions are met within 7 days:

CPU utilization is less than 10% 95% of the time

Network utilization is less than 10%

Memory utilization less than 10% (A1 shape only) (ARM instance)

The vast majority of netizens, including Inspector R and github, responded quickly and added scripts that occupy memory, cpu and network. This means that if you want to recycle, then I will not be idle. Illusion.

The method I used is very simple, that is, "turn off monitoring". As for the truth, my understanding is that Oracle will determine which machines are idle through the statistics of all vps. According to It's Oracle's: oracle-cloud-agent. This program counts CPU, memory, and network usage in the background. If it doesn't meet the standards, it will send a notification email and stop the instance when it expires.

The above is my own understanding, because apart from oracle-cloud-agent, Oracle has no way of knowing whether I am idle. There is no other way within the scope of my current knowledge, and it is definitely not the case. It will connect to your instance and check the resource status, right? Solution

1. At the end of the new instance, click Show Advanced Options and turn off all monitoring components directly in the oracle cloud agent tab;

2. Existing instance, execute in root mode: snap remove oracle-cloud-agent
