Today I will introduce another one to you: Loader. Loader is divided into free version and paid version. During the testing process, the free version has limitations on test time, number of test pages, and number of simulated visitors. However, for most virtual hosts or VPS, the amount provided by the free version can be said to be a destructive test.

Unlike Load Impact, Loader requires us to verify the website before conducting stress testing, upload a txt file to the root directory, or add DNS resolution to prove our ownership of the website and avoid using its tools to target other websites. Conduct DDos attacks.

Loader has the following restrictions for free users:

• Maximum 10,000 connections per time
• A primary domain name
• A maximum of two pages can be tested at the same time during each test
• Each test is limited to 1 minute

Simple test

For simple pressure settings, the Loader is very user-friendly, just fill in the number of connections, test time, page address, etc. Of course, Loader also supports customized complex tests. Test type:

• Clients Per Test: Number of connections per test
• Clients Per Seconds: Number of connections per second
• Maintain Client Load: The number of connections increases from less to more

Test results

You can view the response time (average/minimum/maximum response time), number of responses (success/timeout/4XX error/5XX error), bandwidth (receiving/sending), jump and other information of this test, or you can It is more intuitive to view in the chart.

Summary

Compared with Apache's AB test, the online testing tool is more intuitive and concise. It does not require SSH permissions. Just set the number of tests and URLs, and you can quickly get the performance of the host. Currently, Loader's test server is in Amazon's US east coast computer room, and multi-point testing is in internal testing. Due to the limitations of the computer room and international bandwidth, there may be a large error in testing the performance of mainland China hosts.

Through the test, MediaTemple's GS performance is indeed good, with 300 connections per second for one minute, running 2G of traffic, an average bandwidth of 270mbps, and all 18,000 connections responded successfully.
