Oracle Cloud Oracle's free VPS cloud server with 4 cores and 24G memory is free

A long time ago, we shared Oracle’s free VPS: https://www.138vps.com/freevps/1969.html, which is indeed quite stable. We just checked the machine and asked some friends, Basically, those who applied that year are still using it. As long as the registration information is true and not abused, it will not be cleared.

But now the registration threshold seems to be high. Whether you can pass the same information depends purely on luck, but as long as you try a few times, you can always register.

We received news that Oracle has added arm service. Although we don’t know what it is, Oracle said it is free. According to Oracle, the Ampere A1 Compute comes with 4 cores and 24 GB of RAM as part of our Always Free package. In addition, the hard drive has also increased from the previous 100G to 200G, which is twice as much.

Oracle’s free services now include, but are not limited to, the following:

2 AMD based Compute VMs with 1/8 OCPU and 1 GB memory each.

4 Arm-based Ampere A1 cores and 24 GB of memory usable as one VM or up to 4 VMs.

2 Block Volumes Storage, 200 GB total.

10 GB Object Storage.

10 GB Archive Storage.

Translated into human words, it is

2 AMD based VPS with 1/8 OCPU and 1 GB RAM each.

4 CPUs and 24 GB of memory can be used as one VM, up to 4 VMs, and the total of all VMs does not exceed 4 CPUs and 24 GB of memory.​

2 block volume storage, totaling 200 GB hard drive.

10 GB object storage.

10 GB archive storage.

So, does it mean that we can open 6 VPS in 2+4?

We don’t think so. First of all, the hard disk of each VPS or VM is at least 50G (from our experience in 2019, we don’t know if the rules have changed). 46G or 200G hard disks can be used. No matter how you calculate it, you can only open it. There are only 4 machines, 6 cannot be opened.

Then, you can open 4 machines, which is also a big profit.

We think we are still naive. We should carefully read the official free service description. Unless it is not updated by the official, otherwise, it clearly says [2 Block Volumes Storage], which means two volumes of storage are free, unless you can have more than one. VPS share a common volume storage, otherwise, you can still only have two free VPS.

But no matter what, the volume storage is indeed 100G extra, so you can store more things. At the same time, I also hope that some experts can play tricks and realize that multiple VPSs share one volume storage.

Although the number of machines has not changed according to our analysis, the configuration is still much higher, which is worth a happy day.
