Oracle Free VPS Rule Changes

I believe everyone has heard of Oracle’s free VPS. Many students have also used or applied for it. It is indeed a very easy-to-use VPS. Since we applied in 2019 I have been using it till now. It is extremely stable and better than many paid VPS. However, many people have been sitting idle after activating it. Oracle has updated its TOS and stated that it will recycle idle VPS. Key points to note are the following

Reclamation of Idle Compute Instances

Idle Always Free compute instances may be reclaimed by Oracle. Oracle will deem virtual machine and bare metal compute instances as idle if, during a 7-day period, the following are true:

CPU utilization for the 95th percentile is less than 10%

Network utilization is less than 10%

Memory utilization is less than 10% (applies to A1 shapes only)

Idle computing instance recycling

Oracle may Free computing instances are recycled. Within 7 days, Oracle will treat virtual machines and bare metal computing instances as idle if the following conditions are true:

CPU usage is less than 10% 95% of the time

Memory utilization is less than 10% (only applicable to A1 ARM free instances)

Temporarily I don’t know whether all of them must be satisfied or if only one of them is satisfied, it will not be considered idle, but no matter what, everyone can stay alive by executing the script regularly.
