If we plan to use VPS as a site or project to store data, we must be prepared to manage the machine ourselves. Whether it is the security of the site or the data security of the VPS, we need to do it ourselves. Because the VPS host merchants and products we purchase have various possibilities, even a wealthy VPS host may have problems such as data loss, but the probability is smaller. In particular, we need to pay special attention to the backup of VPS. Whether we use manual regular backup, use tools to perform regular backup, or use various synchronous backup scripts, as long as we find the one that suits us, we have only one purpose, safe backup of data. .

In previous blog posts, Snail has also shared several backup tools and scripts. If you are interested, you can refer to them appropriately. If you find them difficult to use, you can give me feedback.

What Snail wants to share today is to use the free storage provided by the COPY platform to synchronously back up the specified folder data (which can be files or databases) in our VPS to the free backup space provided, free users 15GB.

Prerequisite preparation: Prepare your own Copy.com account. If you don’t have one, you need to register one first. The free account is 15GB, which is generally enough.

First, log in to SSH VPS to download the backup script

cd /tmpwgethttps://soft.laozuo.org/backup/copy.tgz

Enter the tmp temporary folder and download the copy backup file.

Second, unzip/transfer to the specified folder

tar -xvf Copy.tgzcp -r copy /opt

After decompression, transfer it to the opt folder to ensure that the file will not conflict with other files or be accidentally deleted.

Third, enter different files according to the system version

The snail here is a centos 32-bit system, so enter cd /opt/copy/x86. If it is 64-bit, you need to cd /opt/copy/x86_64

Fourth, execute the verification script connection

./CopyConsole -p=Password of the backup platform -u=Email account of the backup platform -r=/root/backup (VPS temporary backup directory)

We need to edit the above file first, edit the above file with our user and password on the copy platform, and then determine the subsequent VPS temporary backup directory

After running the connection command, you will see the above interface indicating that the connection has been successful.

Fifth, determine the soft link file

At this time we need to determine which folders and data need to be backed up. Because the temporary backup we confirmed above is under root/backup, we need to do this.

cd /root/backupln -s /www/web webbackup

Execute so that all files in the web directory will be used as backup files. Of course, we can also specify others.

Sixth, automatic synchronization backup settings

/opt/copy/x86/CopyConsole-daemon

In this way, as long as there are multiple files in the folder we specify, they will be automatically synchronized and backed up.

In short, the stability of the COPY platform is relatively good, the speed is relatively fast, and the free 15GB is enough for us. Friends in need can try it and try different backup tools.
