Tutorial on installing Wine 1.7.40 desktop operating environment on CentOS6

As Linux VPS becomes more and more popular, various cost-effective VPSs appear one after another. Here Snail shares the installation of a new version of the WINE desktop environment. Wine 1.7.40 was released on April 3 this year. The organized interface has been greatly beautified and changed.

In this article, Snail shares the installation of Wine 1.7.40 desktop version in CentOS6 environment.

First, install the required package tools

yum groupinstall \\’Development Tools\\’yum install libX11-devel freetype-devel zlib-devel libxcb-devel

Second, download the Wine program and installation directory

cd /usr/srcwget http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/wine/wine-1.7.40.tar.bz2tar xjf wine-1.7.40.tar.bz2cd wine-1.7.40

Third, install Wine

#32-bit:./configure#64-bit:./configure –enable-win64

Fourth, Make execution

makemake install

This step took a really long time to wait, it probably took me about 30 minutes.

Fifth, check the version

#32-bit:wine –version#64-bit:wine64 –version

We can check the current Wine version.

Sixth, how to use Wine

After Wine is installed, if it is our local machine, it can be linked and opened, but if it is a remote desktop, we need to install a VNC link to connect remotely. After downloading the program, we execute \\"Open withWine Windows Program Loader\\" to run it with Wine.
