We may be more accustomed to custom installation, because the cost is relatively cheap, and the built-in one is indeed higher. I just saw that the minimum cost is 16+10 US dollars a month. There should still be wealthy users using it. It is not very clear what it is used for.

In the previous problem feedback collection, users mentioned two problems. The first is that the built-in WIN system failed after installation. When I was experiencing the Vultr VPS host in the early days, I forgot whether I had tested their built-in WIN. The system will not be used for a long time anyway. It is indeed too expensive. The second question is that a user mentioned a long time ago that he forgot the administrator password when using his WIN system and how to retrieve it.

In view of these two problems, Snail is going to try to activate Vultr’s built-in Windows system to solve these two problems. Of course, I may not be able to solve it either. Let’s solve the first problem today. First open a machine in the Vultr account and use the built-in WIN system to see if it can be used. (Some netizens also mentioned that custom WIN seems to be difficult to use. I plan to test it again one by one in the future. After all, writing articles does take too much time)

First, preparations

First of all, we need to have an account. Currently, there is no bonus for newly registered VULTR accounts. The previous bonus seemed to be on Black Friday at the end of last year. From a cost perspective and a marketing perspective, this merchant currently does not need to attract users through low prices and money-giving activities. Even if some friends see articles about this merchant giving money on Snail, they are outdated. There is currently no free money for registering an account.

Looking at the host speed, Vultr merchants do not have many good computer rooms with excellent speed, but there are quite a few computer rooms. If you need high speed, you may basically be disappointed. If you need multiple data centers, it is indeed possible, and you can delete and activate it at any time. It is suitable for multi-IP and computer room projects, such as when Snail encountered a lot of foreign trade fraud. Now, I don’t know if it is still used, and it’s not very easy to do it.

Second, get to the point

To go a long way, let’s get straight to the point. Now that we have an account, we will activate the machine. This article does not require custom installation, it is directly available in the system internal panel, but the cost is a bit higher.

Select the computer room normally. What needs special attention here is that when selecting the system, you must find the location of the WIN system as shown below.

There are currently two systems to choose from, 2016/2012, and due to copyright issues, you need to pay. The WIN system costs 16 US dollars a month, and the Linux system is free of charge.

Then select the configuration, here choose the minimum 2GB memory. The minimum Linux system is currently 1GB, and 512MB seems to be available in two computer rooms. Then click the Deploy Now button and you need to wait for 15 minutes (the official said it should not be so long).

Third, log in to system settings

1. Check the system password

After the installation is complete, we can see the user core account password for remote login. We can log in directly through the computer remote link.

2. Log in to the system

We can see that the system is quite clean, but it is an English system.

Here Snail tested the installed 2016 system and there was no problem. The system is also relatively clean. I can't use it for other purposes yet, so I haven't installed any of the above. Because of this system, I need to solve the next problem, because some netizens mentioned that they had changed the remote password and then forgot it (a real person), and how to retrieve this problem.

1. We have seen that not many overseas VPS hosting providers have WIN systems, and the cost is relatively high because of system copyright issues. If we are really rich, we can choose according to actual project needs, or we can choose machines from mainland Chinese merchants. They have built-in WIN systems and the cost is lower.

2. In terms of stability, there is a slight difference between Vultr's custom installation of the WINDOWS ISO system and the built-in direct installation from the system version. 3. For the built-in WIN system installed by Vultr, you can choose the 2012 or 2016 versions, and they are all English versions and the installation process is a little longer. There is no problem with the installation. If we need additional configuration, we can only configure it ourselves.
