For ordinary users like Snail, when choosing and purchasing a Linux VPS host, the most they can do is install a website, deploy a web environment, or use it for software testing. However, for users with more practical projects, there are many uses, such as hanging up, hanging software, installing Windows or remote desktop environment to simulate project operations. I have always wondered why there are so many VPS hosting providers and so many promotions released, so there are still so many users buying them. Generally, it is sufficient for self-use for website building. It turns out that VPS can be used for various purposes.

In Snail Blog, I have also shared many articles on Vultr VPS deployment of Windows systems. In fact, most of them are similar, except that we need an ISO integrated system, and the installation process is somewhat similar. Today, a netizen found Snail and hoped to help him install the Windows 7 system on the Vultr VPS host. Here is help with the installation. The entire detailed process is also recorded so that other friends can refer to it if they need it. In fact, it's not that difficult, it just takes some time.

Snail has previously shared several articles about Vultr installing Windows systems:

1. Vultr VPS host custom installation process of English Windows XP system. XP system ISO is attached

2. Complete method to install Windows 2003/2008 system using Vultr VPS custom ISO function

3. Newly registered Vultr account free 20-50 USD balance Vultr discount code arrangement and precautions

In this article, Snail will install the Chinese version of Windows 7 system. The ISO system sources used here all come from the Internet. If we need to use them frequently, it is recommended to make the ISO source or download it to your own server. This ensures speed and does not worry about the loss of online resources (in case someone's website is closed).

First, Vultr uploads the ISO custom system

If we don’t have a Vultr account, we have to register one (new registration account) first. Then before we deploy and install the system, we need to prepare the Windows 7 system ISO file in advance, so that it can be deployed together when opening the VPS. See the picture above, click ISO to prepare to mount the system.

Click Add ISO to prepare to upload the WIN7 system path package.

Put the ISO address above into upload ISO from remote machine as shown above, click Upload, so that all can be mounted here according to the speed of our server. The ISO file cannot exceed 5192MB, and the WIN7 above is only 2544MB. Just a little slower.

Here we see that the Available status means everything is OK and our preparations are complete.

Second, open Vultr VPS to customize Windows 7

After we prepare the ISO file required in the first step, we will set up the machine here. Click on the left menu servers, and you can see the blue circle + symbol on the right, deploy new server.

Selecting the computer room and memory configuration does not require screenshots. We can choose whatever we like, mainly in Server Type. We need to see the Custom ISO in the picture above to select the WIN7 system we uploaded, and then set up the machine normally.

After activating the VPS, we wait until we see the above picture running normally before clicking to install the system. Sometimes after activating the machine, it shows STOP and we need to restart it before proceeding. In short, it must be in Running state.

Third, Vultr deployment process and settings for Windows 7

1. Remote login to VNC

Click to enter the details page of the currently activated VPS host. When you see the picture in the upper right corner, click the arrow to log in via VNC.

Because it takes some time to mount the system, when we started to enter, we probably saw that it was not loaded yet, so just wait.

2. Installation process of Windows 7 system

After the loading is completed, you can see the picture shown above. It feels much more friendly and has a visual interface. Just move the mouse to execute the next step. Then click Install.

Wait for startup to enter the next interface.

In the installation type, select Custom installation as shown above.

Here Snail chose the 768MB plan, which is a 15GB SSD hard drive. Install it directly and click Next by default. If we need to partition, partition it ourselves. Then there is the normal system automatic installation and file copying. It needs to be automatically started once in the middle, and we just wait.

After the automatic restart, we can see the familiar startup screen, and it seems that it will be fine soon.

Set the WIN7 username. Here we enter any one.

We can set a password, or go to the next step without setting it.

Fourth, Vultr successfully installed Windows 7 and used it

After deploying WIN7 in the above step, you can directly enter the WIN7 desktop.

It’s easy to see such an interface, because this system integrates the network card driver, we can directly access the Internet, open the browser and check the Internet.

The speed feels okay.

The default IE looks a bit awkward. If we need other browsers, we need to download and install them ourselves. It's that simple and not very difficult, except that it takes some time to install. However, compared to other VPS, it is easier to install the WIN system on Vultr because it is an SSD solid state drive, which is really faster than an ordinary hard drive.

Finally, here are the Windows system ISO resources currently available on the Internet (from the Internet)
